INTERNATIONAL WHEELED POWERSPORTS VEHICLE INDUSTRY GATHERS IN BEIJING TO DISCUSS
GLOBAL ATV MARKET
At the invitation of CIME, organizer of EICMA CHINA – The Motorcycle Show,
and the Motorcycle Industry Council (MIC) (U.S.), the MIC will facilitate
a two-hour international symposium on all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) and similar vehicles
on June 11, 2010 from 14:30 to 16:30 at the National Agriculture Exhibition
Center. Industry experts from the All Terrain Vehicle Industry European Association (Europe), the Canadian Off-Highway Vehicle Distributors Council
(Canada), the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (Australia), the Recreational Off-Highway Vehicle Association (U.S.) and the Specialty Vehicle Institute of America (U.S.) will share information as part of this unique educational
opportunity for those interested in the ATV industry. Panelists will address industry
standards and technical issues in addition to consumer issues, such as market dynamics,
safety and vehicle utilization. Regulatory issues, such as mandatory standards,
customer support, testing and certification, also will be discussed.
Given the importance that industry and regulators place on the safety of riders,
it is critical that manufacturers, importers and distributors have a complete and
comprehensive understanding of the requirements and expectations for selling ATVs
and similar products in markets. Consumers, regulators and the existing industry
benefit from educated and prepared new market entrants to ensure standards are maintained
and the rider experience is safe, responsible and positive.
Due to the maturity of many markets and the evolution of requirements and expectations,
it is sometimes difficult for new market entrants to appreciate the scope of their
responsibilities. For other markets or other product segments (such as side-by-side
vehicles), new or emerging challenges and opportunities are presented. An objective
of the symposium therefore is to educate manufacturers, importers and distributors
regarding the requirements, expectations, challenges and opportunities of each participating
market.
An additional objective is to facilitate the exchange of information, requirements,
expectations and best practices among stakeholders from around the globe. Each market
stands to learn and benefit from the experience and expertise of sister markets.
Such exchanges likewise facilitate the potential for global harmonization of standards
and other requirements which is critical for multi-national companies doing business
throughout the world.
Manufacturers, importers and distributors from China and elsewhere will attend,
participate, seek information and contribute to the Symposium. The expert panelists
will exchange information with each other and the attendees. This dialogue will
improve the understanding of all participating stakeholders with the ultimate goal
of benefitting riders throughout the world.
